Innovative Solutions Highlighted for Connected and Sustainable Mining

Rockwell Automation, Inc. the leading global provider of industrial automation and digital transformation solutions, has announced its participation in MINEXPO 2024. The event, scheduled for September 24-26 in Las Vegas, will feature Rockwell Automation’s cutting-edge technologies designed for creating connected and sustainable mining operations.

Addressing Industry Challenges

The mining sector continues to grapple with significant environmental challenges, accounting for approximately 6% of global energy demand and 4%-7% of greenhouse gas emissions. Rockwell Automation aims to address these challenges with its advanced automation technology, which integrates energy management, process optimisation, and artificial intelligence (AI). The company’s initiative demonstrates how connected systems and scalable analytics can facilitate mine-to-market integration, ultimately enabling better, data-driven decisions.

Sebastien Grau, Vice President of Global Industries – Process at Rockwell Automation, commented: “We are excited to showcase our vision for a connected and sustainable mine at MINEXPO 2024. Our solutions are designed to enhance mining efficiency by integrating intelligence into every phase, from equipment operation to enterprise decision-making. Visitors to our booth will experience firsthand how our technology transforms mining operations through seamless, data-driven processes.”

Interactive Exhibits at Rockwell’s Booth

Visitors to Rockwell’s booth (#6113) at MINEXPO 2024 will have the opportunity to engage with a range of innovative solutions:

  • Mine-To-Market Integration: Attendees can explore Rockwell’s Mining Operation Management Suite (MOM) through an interactive demo. This suite connects disparate systems and data, delivering a unified perspective across operations to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Asset Reliability: The Mining Solutions Asset Intelligence for Mining section will highlight the importance of equipment reliability. Visitors will gain insights into machine health and learn how to plan maintenance proactively, reducing unexpected breakdowns.
  • Process Optimization: Rockwell will demonstrate how model predictive control can optimise mineral processing plants. This interactive demo showcases how to lower costs per ton, reduce energy intensity, and meet regulatory requirements effectively.
  • Sustainable Operations: In partnership with Aquatic Life Ltd, Rockwell will present innovative water automation solutions aimed at enhancing water efficiency and conservation. This section will emphasise Rockwell’s commitment to sustainability and water stewardship.
  • Robotics Inspections: The Husky Observer from Clearpath Robotics, a Rockwell Automation company, will be featured. This rugged, autonomous inspection robot is ready for basic tasks and offers potential for customisation and new payloads.
  • Augmented Reality: Attendees can interact with Rockwell’s augmented reality (AR) scale model of a ball mill, showcasing how AR/VR technology is used in real mining scenarios. This demonstration will highlight AR’s role in improving performance, safety, and workforce morale through guided, interactive work instructions.
