A new study by Furniture Village has unveiled the UK’s most popular sofa styles, revealing a growing preference for multi-functional furniture. Based on Google Search data, sofa beds top the list with an impressive 301,000 average monthly searches. They are followed by corner sofas (165,000 searches), with Chesterfield sofas (33,100), modular sofas (27,100), and velvet sofas (9,900) rounding out the top five. This data highlights a shift in consumer preferences, with Britons prioritising both style and practicality in their living spaces.

The Demand for Multi-Functional Sofas

The research underscores a clear trend: Britons are actively seeking furniture that combines comfort with functionality. Sofa beds, which can serve as both a seating area and a guest bed, have emerged as the most searched-for sofa style. As homes become more compact and space-saving solutions gain popularity, it’s no surprise that these versatile pieces are leading the way.

A spokesperson from Furniture Village explained, “Sofa beds are a great space-saving solution, offering both comfort and convenience. With more people looking to maximise their living spaces, they have become an essential piece of furniture for many UK households.”

Corner Sofas: The Social Hub of the Home

Coming in second, corner sofas garner 165,000 monthly searches. Their spacious design makes them ideal for families and those who love to entertain. By offering ample seating without compromising on style, these sofas have become a staple in modern homes.

Classic Meets Contemporary: Chesterfield & Modular Sofas

Chesterfield sofas, known for their deep-buttoned upholstery and timeless appeal, have seen 33,100 searches per month. Their enduring popularity reflects a broader trend of blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary interiors.

Meanwhile, modular sofas (27,100 searches) appeal to those who enjoy flexibility in home décor. These sofas can be easily rearranged to suit different layouts, making them a perfect choice for dynamic living spaces.

A furniture expert at Furniture Village added, “Modular sofas allow homeowners to customise their seating arrangements effortlessly. Whether it’s for a cosy night in or hosting guests, they provide unmatched versatility.”

Velvet Sofas: A Touch of Luxury

Despite being lower on the list, velvet sofas continue to attract attention, with 9,900 searches per month. Their soft texture and rich aesthetic make them a popular choice for those looking to add a touch of luxury to their interiors.
