Between 9 and 11 January 2025, Vietjet’s senior leadership, headed by its founder, travelled to the United States to connect with global strategic partners at the “Friends of Vietnam Summit” in Palm Beach, Florida. This high-profile event underscored Vietjet’s commitment to fostering strong international relationships and expanding its footprint in the global aviation industry.

A Historic Flight to the U.S.

The delegation’s journey to the summit was marked by Vietjet’s inaugural flight to the United States, aptly named “Hello America!” Operated by a state-of-the-art wide-body aircraft, this milestone flight signified the airline’s ambitious expansion into the U.S. market. It also reinforced Vietjet’s role as a crucial bridge in U.S.-Vietnam economic relations, paving the way for future collaborations and growth.

Deepening U.S.-Vietnam Economic Ties

Vietjet has emerged as a key player in strengthening economic cooperation between Vietnam and the United States. The airline’s strategic agreements, valued at nearly USD 50 billion, involve partnerships with top-tier American corporations such as Boeing, GE, CFM, Pratt & Whitney, and Honeywell. These collaborations contribute significantly to job creation in the U.S. aerospace sector while bolstering Vietnam’s aviation capabilities.

In addition, Vietjet is actively negotiating further agreements worth approximately USD 14 billion. The airline is also expanding its partnerships beyond aerospace, working with leading technology giants including Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Apple, and Google. Discussions are underway with SpaceX and other in-flight internet providers to enhance connectivity for Vietjet’s growing fleet. These developments align with Vietjet’s broader vision of integrating cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence, blockchain, semiconductor technology, and big data into its operations.

A Visionary Approach to Global Aviation

Madame Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet’s founder and a prominent leader in Vietnam’s corporate landscape, reaffirmed the airline’s dedication to fostering economic cooperation between the two nations.

“The strategic partnerships Vietjet has forged in the U.S. reflect our deep commitment to strengthening the economic bridge between the two nations,” she stated. “We take pride in Vietjet’s role in generating employment opportunities for American workers, advancing technological innovation, and driving Vietnam’s economic growth.”

Building on a Legacy of Collaboration

Vietjet’s long-standing commitment to collaboration with U.S. companies dates back to 2017 when then-President Donald Trump’s official visit to Vietnam witnessed the signing of Vietjet’s initial order for 100 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Encouraged by the U.S. administration, this order was later doubled to 200 aircraft.

In 2025, during the first year of President-elect Trump’s second term, Boeing is set to deliver the first 14 of these aircraft to Vietjet. This delivery will mark a new era in the airline’s expansion, strengthening its fleet and furthering its global reach.

A Future of Affordable and High-Quality Air Travel

With robust commitments from strategic partners and a visionary approach to growth, Vietjet remains dedicated to delivering affordable fares and high-quality services. The airline continues to build bridges between cultures, connect global travellers, and create new business opportunities worldwide. By reinforcing its presence in the U.S. and investing in technological advancements, Vietjet is set to play an even greater role in the future of international aviation.
