The Bangladesh Tourism Board is delighted to announce its participation in the World Travel Market (WTM) London, a prestigious event in the travel industry, set to take place at ExCel London from 5 to 7 November 2024. This major trade show presents an invaluable opportunity for Bangladesh to exhibit its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and diverse tourism offerings to a global audience.

Bangladesh is a country renowned for its unparalleled beauty and cultural richness. As home to the world’s largest river delta, the Sundarbans: a UNESCO World Heritage site, this land is sculpted by the mighty rivers that weave through it, creating an ever-changing landscape. Visitors will find themselves captivated by the diversity of its natural features, from the serene backwater swamps of Sylhet and Barishal to the sandy shores of Cox’s Bazar, recognized as the longest natural sea beach in the world.

At WTM London, attendees will uncover why Bangladesh is a destination brimming with surprises. The Sundarbans is not only known for its lush mangroves but is also the habitat of the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger, symbolizing the country’s commitment to wildlife conservation. This rich biodiversity, combined with Bangladesh’s breathtaking landscapes, makes it an enticing destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.

Cultural Treasures Await

Bangladesh is a treasure trove of cultural heritage. Visitors can explore historical sites such as the ancient Buddhist monastery Sompura Mahavihara, which showcases the architectural prowess of bygone eras. The country is also known for its vibrant art forms, including Rickshaw Painting, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Festivals like Mangal Shobhajatra, celebrated during the Bengali New Year, highlight the country’s artistic spirit and communal harmony.

To effectively highlight these attractions, the Bangladesh Tourism Board will feature a uniquely designed pavilion at WTM London. This immersive space will provide visitors with a taste of the country’s culture and hospitality, incorporating interactive displays that celebrate Bangladesh’s unique identity. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local tour operators who will present exclusive travel packages tailored to suit various preferences and budgets.

Emphasizing Sustainability and Community

Sustainability is at the heart of Bangladesh’s tourism strategy. The Bangladesh Tourism Board is committed to promoting eco-friendly tourism practices that protect its natural resources and benefit local communities. By supporting local artisans and small businesses, the tourism sector aims to create sustainable economic opportunities, ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach those who need it most.
