Cumbrian-born hi-fi start-up Fell Audio is set to disrupt the audio-visual industry with an uncompromising blend of affordability, British craftsmanship, and audiophile-grade performance. Positioned as a challenger to global industry heavyweights, the brand introduces a new era of high-quality, entry-level hi-fi equipment, designed and built in the UK.

Rooted in the legacy of Peter Tyson, a leading UK retailer with a 50-year history in the hi-fi industry, Fell Audio is a family-run enterprise that merges decades of expertise with a fresh vision for accessible, high-fidelity sound. The brand’s unique selling point is its commitment to British manufacturing at competitive price points, setting it apart from the mass-produced, Far Eastern-made alternatives dominating the market.

A New Standard for Affordable British Hi-Fi

Fell Audio’s inaugural products, the Fell Disc (£499) and the Fell Amp (£599), aim to reinvigorate the entry-level hi-fi sector. The Fell Disc, a premium CD player, arrives at the perfect time to cater to Gen Z’s renewed interest in physical media, while the Fell Amp, an 89-watt Class D amplifier equipped with a high-end ESS Sabre DAC, offers versatile connectivity and superior sound quality.

Both devices are designed for longevity, repairability, and sustainability, backed by a five-year warranty and an extended repair service. Thoughtful features such as plug-and-play turntable connectivity, Bluetooth streaming, and headphone outputs make these products practical for both newcomers and seasoned audiophiles.

A Passion Project Rooted in British Hi-Fi Heritage

Matthew Tyson, Managing Director of Fell Audio, explains: “Great-sounding, affordable hi-fi is no longer being made in the UK, and we wanted to change that. Fell Audio offers high-quality, British-built audio systems that allow people to begin their hi-fi journey without compromising on craftsmanship.”

Luke Tyson, Project and Design Lead, states: “We take great pride in championing UK hi-fi brands and their longstanding legacy. We felt that the entry-level market was losing what made British hi-fi special: great design, character, and sound all built here in the UK. Fell Audio is our way of preserving that legacy.”

Designed and Built in Britain

Fell Audio’s approach to product development is deeply rooted in British craftsmanship:

  • Iconic Retro-Modern Aesthetic – Inspired by the golden era of 1970s hi-fi, with sleek modern touches, capacitive-touch panels, and minimalist designs.
  • Premium Electronics – Developed over three years, featuring in-house designed PCBs and high-end components typically found in significantly higher-priced products.
  • Locally Sourced Manufacturing – Product design, packaging, component procurement, metalwork, and assembly are all conducted in the UK.
  • Sustainable Practices – Packaging is 100% recyclable, plastic wrapping is replaced with a reusable Fell Audio tote bag, and the company prioritises UK-sourced materials to reduce carbon footprint.
