Delta Electronics, a global leader in power management, has announced that its D-Bot Series Collaborative Robots (Cobots) have received the distinguished 2024 “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award for exceptional design quality and creativity. This award is the most prestigious recognition in the “Red Dot Award: Design Concept” category, highlighting Delta’s dedication to advancing smart manufacturing solutions.

Commitment to Innovation

Michael Mayer-Rosa, Senior Director of the Industrial Automation Business Group at Delta Electronics EMEA Region, stated, “Delta is dedicated to innovation, investing over 8% of its revenues in R&D. Design plays a crucial role in our innovation strategy, and this award boosts our confidence in the quality of our cobots. The swift expansion of the cobot sector in automation technology has driven Delta to address the rising market demand with its D-Bot Series Cobots. Designed with industry-leading safety, efficiency, and practicality, Delta aims to cater to the sophisticated needs of customers across various applications.

Features of the D-Bot Series

The D-Bot Series Collaborative Robots were showcased for the first time at this year’s Hannover Messe. The Series comprises six versatile models of collaborative industrial robots, each equipped with six axes, capable of handling payloads of up to 30 kg, and reaching distances of up to 1,800 mm. The cobots also support EtherCAT, Modbus, and CODESYS compatibility, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems.

Safety First

Safety is paramount in the design of the D-Bot Series, which is intended for interaction with personnel in production environments. The innovative “Reflex Safety” feature allows the robots to detect contact at remarkable speed, reversing their movement immediately to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of both personnel and equipment. The integration of advanced sensors and collision detection systems (including one-finger tap detection) enhances the overall safety profile of these collaborative robots.

IP66 Protection and Maintenance

The D-Bot Series meets the stringent requirements of protection class IP66, ensuring a low susceptibility to contamination within the cobots. This design feature facilitates easy cleaning of the robot’s exterior, promoting hygiene and operational efficiency in various work environments. Advanced safety protocols further contribute to a secure and efficient workplace.

Versatile Applications

Delta’s D-Bot Series is designed for rapid deployment in a wide array of environments. These collaborative robots excel in various tasks, including assembling complex components, handling materials, and performing heavy palletising duties. The versatility of the D-Bots makes them an ideal choice for manufacturers looking to enhance productivity and streamline operations.

Global Recognition and Future Prospects

The Red Dot Award, a prestigious international recognition first introduced in 1954, is evaluated each year by a jury of seasoned product designers who assess a wide variety of products based on their design philosophy. Delta’s D-Bot Series Cobots, with their innovative design and capabilities, stand out in a competitive landscape, receiving the world-renowned “Red Dot” seal of excellence. The award ceremony is scheduled for 10 October 2024 in Singapore, where the exhibition of winners will be held at the Red Dot Design Museum.

Delta’s recognition at this prestigious event signifies a pivotal moment for the company, further cementing its role as a leader in the automation sector and its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art smart solutions.
