Apple Original Films today announced that production for the highly anticipated feature film F1, starring Brad Pitt, has concluded at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The film, which is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, marks a significant milestone in the 2024 Formula 1 season. The announcement follows the culmination of an exciting and high-energy production in partnership with the Creative Media Authority and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission. F1 is set to hit theatres worldwide in IMAX® on June 27, 2025, in North America and on June 25, 2025, internationally.

A High-Octane Adventure in the World of Formula 1

F1 immerses audiences in the intense and visually stunning world of Formula 1 racing, a pinnacle of motorsport. The film follows a former Formula 1 driver, played by Brad Pitt, as he makes a dramatic return to the sport. Pitt’s character teams up with his new teammate, played by Damson Idris, at the fictional APXGP racing team. Together, they battle against the world’s top racers. The star-studded ensemble cast includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

The film’s narrative is complemented by an exceptional production team. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is known for Top Gun: Maverick, F1 is produced by Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment. Additionally, Formula 1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton plays a key role in producing the film through his Dawn Apollo Films banner.

Filmed at Iconic Locations Around the World

Production for F1 involved 29 days of filming at the world-renowned Yas Marina Circuit and Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. The dynamic scenes captured during the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix provide a genuine and thrilling atmosphere that fans of both motorsport and cinema will appreciate. The production team was supported by a talented local crew of 284, including 15 young interns from the region, under the guidance of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate scheme. This collaboration highlights Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for international film productions.
