Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a leader in the textile industry, is enhancing its manufacturing processes with artificial intelligence (AI). By incorporating AI-powered defect detection, the company improves fabric quality while minimising waste, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. Real-time AI monitoring increases production efficiency, optimises resource usage, and significantly reduces the environmental footprint of textile manufacturing.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

AI’s Role in Water Conservation in Textile Manufacturing

The textile industry is a major consumer of water, with dyeing and finishing processes responsible for nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. Ekoten Tekstil’s AI technology helps combat this issue by detecting defects early, thereby reducing the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, ultimately lowering water consumption.

As global droughts continue to pose challenges to industries and communities, the need for conservation efforts has become increasingly urgent. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 55 million people are affected by droughts annually, exacerbating global water shortages. By improving efficiency and reducing excess water use, Ekoten Tekstil contributes to broader sustainability goals.

Sustainability Leadership and Workforce Diversity

Ekoten Tekstil’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond water conservation. The company has once again earned an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, exceeding both the global textile industry’s B average and the worldwide C rating. Additionally, it has secured an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, positioning itself as one of the world’s top sustainable supply chain leaders.

Beyond environmental responsibility, Ekoten Tekstil is committed to inclusivity in the workplace, ensuring women hold key positions in both leadership and production. This emphasis on diversity supports the company’s long-term vision of integrating innovation with ethical business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

By continuing to invest in AI, sustainability, and workforce diversity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping the future of textile manufacturing with responsible and forward-thinking initiatives.
