At the 2024 Paris Motor Show, FAW HONGQI celebrated a significant achievement with the HONGQI EH7 new energy vehicle earning the prestigious European Union Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EU-WVTA) certification. This recognition, granted by Luxembourg’s Ministry of Transport (SNCH), enables the EH7 to comply with the stringent regulatory standards of the European Union. With this certification, HONGQI is now prepared to export its model across EU member states and other regions that acknowledge the WVTA approval, marking a crucial milestone in the company’s plans for expansion into the global market.

A New Chapter for HONGQI in Europe

The official WVTA certification ceremony took place on October 14, 2024, during which FAW HONGQI joined TÜV Rheinland, a renowned testing and certification service provider, to celebrate the occasion. Key figures such as Lu Yu, Director of Product Department at HONGQI Overseas, Liu Hongtao, General Manager of HONGQI Overseas, and Massimo Bianchi, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Western Europe, attended the event. HONGQI’s team successfully completed the rigorous certification process in just two and a half months, showcasing their dedication and efficiency in meeting the required standards.

The EU-WVTA certification is globally recognised as a mark of automotive excellence, covering safety, environmental impact, and technical standards. It ensures that vehicles comply with the highest benchmarks before entering the European market. Securing this certification demonstrates HONGQI’s commitment to providing innovative and reliable electric vehicles, solidifying the brand’s position as it strives to make a substantial impact within the European automotive landscape.

It symbolises HONGQI’s ambition to take on established luxury brands in one of the world’s most competitive regions for electric vehicles. By securing the WVTA certificate, HONGQI is positioned to broaden its presence and accelerate its expansion into new territories.

During the certification ceremony, Lu Yu emphasised the value of teamwork, noting, “Our collaboration with TÜV Rheinland played a pivotal role in achieving the WVTA certification.” This marks an important milestone for HONGQI’s growth and sets the foundation for our future in Europe. We extend our appreciation to both teams for their dedication and look forward to further joint efforts that will elevate our shared success.

Massimo Bianchi, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Western Europe, echoed this sentiment, adding, “FAW is a significant partner for us at TÜV Rheinland.
