Celebrating Two Centuries of Craftsmanship and Legacy
The House of Delamain, renowned for its dedication to crafting exceptional Cognac, is marking its 200th anniversary with the release of an exclusive creation, L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire. This unique blend, made from five rare, extra-old eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from the esteemed Grande Champagne terroir, epitomises two centuries of dedication to excellence and the House’s deep-rooted passion for the natural world. Presented in a stunning 10-litre dame-jeanne, a masterpiece created by the prestigious Parisian Maison d’Art Goossens, this release signifies not just a milestone in history, but also the artistry and intellectual rigour that define Delamain’s legacy.
Honouring 200 Years of Exploration and Craftsmanship
Founded in 1824, the House of Delamain has remained dedicated to the pursuit of perfection in the art of Cognac production. With a strong foundation in both the natural sciences—particularly ornithology and botany—the family’s pursuit of excellence has been intertwined with their curiosity about the world around them. This philosophical approach has driven the House to make choices that distinguish their Cognacs, particularly their commitment to the Grande Champagne terroir, the oldest and most prestigious of the Cognac crus. Delamain cognacs are exclusively produced from this region, aged in seasoned French oak casks, and then carefully reduced using the “faibles” method to preserve the spirit’s purest essence.
This combination of passion and intellectual dedication has allowed Delamain to produce Cognacs that are the purest expression of the Grande Champagne terroir—deep, elegant, and finely crafted.
A Historic Blend Crafted Through Five Generations of Expertise
L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire is the result of blending five extraordinary eaux-de-vie, each carefully cultivated by successive generations of Delamain’s Cellar Masters. The House’s two most recent Cellar Masters collaborated to maintain the unique characteristics of each eau-de-vie while ensuring the final blend is perfectly balanced and harmonious. The result is a rich, aromatic blend that tells the story of time itself, capturing both vibrant fruit notes and profound depth. This is a true reflection of Delamain’s commitment to both time-honoured traditions and a progressive approach to Cognac-making.
A Masterpiece by Maison Goossens, Inspired by Nature
Delamain’s bicentennial celebration would not be complete without a tribute to the artistry and beauty of nature. In partnership with the esteemed Maison Goossens, part of Chanel’s exclusive Maisons d’Art collection, the House has crafted a 10-litre dame-jeanne adorned with detailed vineyard bird and organic motifs. This 245-piece sculpture beautifully reflects the spirit of nature, showcasing Goossens’ exceptional craftsmanship. This masterpiece was created through seven meticulous stages, including bronze casting and gold plating, and exemplifies Goossens’ exceptional craftsmanship.
